Fadzil Nayan - Abel Yap : 1-0

The two leaders of the 2011 Asian Amateur meet in round 6 and Fadzil managed to emerged as the winner after his opponent  blunder big time on move 35.

Ahmad Fadzil Nayan (2009) - Abel Yap Jinwei (2060)
Asian Amatuer, Round 6, 28.11.2011

Analyzed by Centaur (Hairulov + Houdini)

1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nf3 e6 5. g3 Nbd7 6. Qd3 Be7 7. Bg2 O-O 8. O-O b6 9. e4 dxe4 10. Nxe4 Bb7 11. Bf4 Nxe4 12. Qxe4 Nf6

13. Qc2 Theory suggest 13. Qe2.

13... c5 14. Rad1 Qc8 Now the drawback of playing 13.Qc2 is clear. After black play cxd4, he will continue to pressure white's queen on c2 with b5.

15. Qe2 cxd4 16. Nxd4 Bxg2 17. Kxg2 Rd8 18. b3 Bc5 19. Nb5 a6 20. Nc3 Bd4 21. Be5 Qc6+ 22. f3 Bxe5 23. Qxe5 h6 24. Rd4 Rxd4 25. Qxd4 Ra7 26. Qd8+ Kh7 27. Rd1 Rd7 28. Rxd7 Nxd7 29. Qh4 f5 30. Qd4 Nf6 31. h3 Nd7 32. b4 g5 33. a4 Kg6 34. g4 The game is quite balance so far but Abel mistakenly decide to push the h-pawn with....

34...h5? 34... Nf6 is a viable option

35. gxh5+ Kxh5?? Mistakes come in pairs. Abel should have realized his previous mistake and continue to play with a pawn down with 35...Kh7, instead he choose to take the pawn.

36. Qg7 Believe it or not but white is  threatening mate in 1 with 37.Qh7++ checkmate.

36...g4 37. hxg4+ fxg4 38. Ne4 gxf3+ 39. Kxf3 1-0 Black resign because he have to give big materials to avoid being mate instantly for e.g. 39...Ne5+ 40. Qxe5+ Kg6 White is simply a piece up and Houdini gave a force mate in 24...whatsoever :)

Dubios move by Harry Porter ?!

I spend my Sunday evening  in my home, watching  Harry Porters and the Philosophers Stone Wizard's  .... and of course... i pay attention more during  the chess scene.

In the scene, Harry, Ron, and Hermione play their way across a chessboard to pass the White players in a giant-scaled and dangerous game of Wizard Chess. Wizard chess is the magical variant of the classic board game in which the pieces move of their own accord when commanded by the player. When a piece is taken (destroy!), it is removed by the attacking piece.

I was curios to know the exact position and the moves. I google the scene on the net and found that  the chess position  was created by American IM - Jeremy Silman .

Black to move

* Harry is a black bishop (on a3) . Hermione is a black's rook. Ron is a black's Knight ( on g5).

4th DATCC Team Event - Round 4 Preview

Too Less Ordinary  vs Najib's Rojak Team

The highlight of the round will be the clash between of this two unbeaten team - Too Less Ordinary (TLO)  against Najib's Rojak Team (NRT). TLO has done what Man City has done in the EPL - trashing big and small team with big score. Albeit seeded no. 1, NRT has still yet to prove their superiority. They have concede 3.5  out of 12 game points compare to  TLO seeded no. 4 who  has  only concede 1.5 points. NRT should field their best line ( IM Mok, Yeoh Li Tian , Sumant and co.) to have a better chance to stop TLO who is on top form. My prediction  TLO powered with two  Pinoys ( Udani and Michael Angelo) will  continue their winning ways so  NRJ, like the next Kardashian husband - best of luck.

Prediction : Too Less Ordinary win 2.5-1.5

My Game @ DATCC

Yesterday I played a game against Petronas Seahorse at board two with Ahmad Farhan. The game was very interesting despite of a few inaccuracies from both sides. We reached a position below on move 45.Qc1

Black is winning here and I have found the first good move but failed to find the second and the winning move. Can you spot it?
